Maps, Rules, Permits



Discover more about the OIT with our trail maps and elevation profile, or take a virtual tour on our Story Map.  In order to keep our trail safe and family-friendly, we have listed the prohibited uses below.  Thank you for your cooperation!

Prohibited Use

  • Motor vehicles (e.g. snowmobiles, motorcycles, etc.)

  • Horses

  • Camping

  • Fires

  • Climbing on structures (e.g. bridges)

  • Hunting or trapping

  • Firearms usage

  • Kites (due to power lines along the trail)

Recommendations / Permitted Uses

  • Yield to pedestrians

  • Wheels keep right

  • Walkers and pets keep to right for visibility

  • Announce "passing" and use caution

  • Use short pet leashes (maximum 6 feet)

  • Keep trail clean

  • Wear a helmet

  • Use lights and reflective wear at dusk/dark

  • Respect private property

  • Enjoy running, walking, biking, rollerblading, cross county skiing, snow-shoeing, and other non-motor vehicle uses

Temporary Trail Detours

 

1. Ozaukee County and We Energies are completing multiple culvert replacement projects on the OIT in the Town of Grafton, City of Port Washington, Town of Port Washington, and Town of Belgium. Construction activities are ongoing and localized sections of the OIT will be temporary closed at each culvert location.  Construction activities are scheduled to be complete by the end of October 2020.
